BLOOMINGTON--The school district is welcoming a new member to its ranks.
Tuesday night, District 87 school board members appointed Jennifer Sedbrook to the position.
Sedbrook is taking the spot of Millicent Roth, who resigned earlier this summer.
She says she's excited for the new opportunity.
Two of her children are currently enrolled in the district.
Sedbrook plans to focus on enhancing parent-student relationships in an effort to increase academic success in the classroom.
"I'd really like to look at opportunities for parents to be involved. I think that's very important," said Sedbrook. "We're going to be doing some strategic planning for the next few years. And trying to involve the larger community and parents."
Sedbrook will be sworn in at the August eighth school board meeting.
