PEORIA - Two women were not hurt early Sunday when police say a man opened fire on them because they were laughing.

It happened around 3:45 a.m. in the 3400 block of W. Oakcrest Dr in the Lexington Hills apartment complex.

Police said the man started shooting at the women because he saw them laughing and thought it was directed at him.

As it turns out, police said the women were laughing about something else.  Neither one of them were hurt.

The alleged shooter is 43-year-old Allen Gills.

An officer saw him while talking to the women and chased after him.

Gills was arrested and taken to the Peoria County Jail, where he is in custody on $50,000 bond.

He's facing several charges including five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

So is this part of that culture thing I keep hearing about? You laugh at a black man and they automatically pull out a gun and shoot at you? Do all black men at Lexington Hills carry a gun?
