PEORIA-The American Red Cross is enlisting the help of Cardinals fans to help hit out of a summer slump.
The St. Louis Cardinals Fans Blood Drive took place Tuesday at the Fondulac Administration Center in East Peoria. Blood donors walked away with a free 2011 St. Louis Cardinals championship tee-shirt.
Blood donations are at extremely low levels this summer. There were 50,000 less donations across the country in June. The American Red Cross hoped to get at least 90 donors Tuesday and maybe use the team's success to find a little success of its own.
"It's a chance for fans to show their loyalty to their team, and still help out in the community while showing their loyalty." said team leader Kelly Thompson.
If you'd like to donate, just call 1-800-Red Cross.
