PEORIA-Area religious groups are
rallying against government healthcare policies.
Dozens of people gathered in
downtown Peoria today to call on the Obama administration to drop the mandate
that employers provide contraception coverage in healthcare policies. Activists
say it's keeping them from practicing their religion.
Central Illinois Right to Life
member, Karen Guth said, "They are trying to say specifically what we as
religious people are able to afford and tell us that they demand that we do
things even thought they are against our religious beliefs."
In February, the Obama administration announced a
compromise which forces insurance companies rather than religious employers to
pay for things like contraception.
