PEORIA-Another threatened facility is the Adult Transition Center in Peoria.
Funding to keep it open is also included in
the spending plan passed by the general assembly.
Lawmakers tell us they reallocated money to
keep it open along with other state facilities.
State representative Jehan Gordon-Booth says it should
stay open because of its track record.
"Facilities
such as the PAC Center have a really good opportunity to stay open. Number 1
they are fully funded with real money, none of that virtual money that was used
in the past budgets. It is real money that is in the budget to keep those facilities
open. But also when looking at what other transition centers are doing around
the state, our transition center in downtown Peoria is one of the best in the
entire state of Illinois," said Gordon-Booth.
Gordon-booth also spoke with us
about pension reform. She says she doesn't support shifting educators' pension
costs to local school districts.
