PEORIA-There is a new way to pay your library fines in Peoria.

The "Food for Fines" program starts tomorrow and lasts until June 9th.

For each can of food you bring to a Peoria Public Library branch, the library will credit $2 dollars toward your fines.

Just take your donation to the library's information desk and you'll be taking action to help the hungry.

Public Relations Supervisor Tricia Noack said, "We don't charge fines to make money the reason we charge fines is to get our materials back and so other people can use them.

So this is a win win because we get our material back you get to come and use the library again and people who need some food will be feed."

You have to return everything you've checked out to get the $2 dollar credit.

All the items donated will benefit First United Methodist Church Loaves and Fishes program.
