PEORIA- Peoria will soon be home to another veteran's memorial.
The project was announced Sunday at Springdale Cemetery's annual Memorial Day observance ceremony.
Many people braved the heat to come out and honor the many veterans who put their lives on the line to defend our country. Keynote speaker Bruce Thiemann says the turn out is no surprise.
He says central Illinois always does a stand up job when it comes to supporting our heroes.
"There's so many people that always come out ,no matter what the weather is," Thiemann said. "To show their support for the young men and women in this community that are in harms way today and have gone into harms way over the years
The new memorial will honor those who fought in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. The plan is to build it in the Courtyard Plaza downtown.
