WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. -- It's been a long ten months but Kellogg Golf Course is set to re-open.
Closed since last August for renovations, Kellogg will open again Friday. With new fairways, greens and bunkers.
"It'll be a nice course to come out and play. It won't take you all day to play or beat you up in any way. It's gonna be a nice sporty course," said Kellogg manager Tim Smith. "That's the vision we had and I think we achieved it."
Kellogg will now feature bent grass fairways, bunkers with a new composition of sand and fewer trees.
"I think people that have played at Kellogg, even if you haven't played here, you're going to be very pleased as to what you see," said Peoria Park District Board of Trustees President Tim Cassidy. "It''ll be a nice experience."
The one million dollar renovation project came in under budget, said Cassidy. The clubhouse was also redone.
Annually the busiest of the park district's golf courses, Kellogg was built in 1972.
