WMBD/WYZZ-TV - CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Charles Fenner knows this state track meet will be busy.
He wants it that way.
Already one of the best pole vaulters in the state, Fenner has qualified for three other events at the state meet. In Friday's prelims he'll run in the 300 hurdles, the 4 x 100 meter and 4 x 400 meter relay teams.
"It's gong to be a lot different because I used to only focus on the pole vault," said Fenner. "It's going to be a lot more work, that's for sure."
On the other side of the coin is Limestone's Tyler Morse. The senior won the 1600 and 3200 meter races in the Mid-Illini Conference and sectional track meets in consecutive weeks.
But he's only going to run in the 3200 meters at state. He's coming off a stress fracture that sidelined him ten weeks this spring.
"I guess I'm a lot more excited to be coming back. I wanted to train harder even though I knew I couldn't because I didn't want to re-injure myself," said Morse. "It's been a fun ride. I'm really pumped up at the end of the season."
The boys state track finals are Saturday.
