Despite objections from Governor Pat Quinn, the Illinois House voted Wednesday to expand gambling in Illinois as a way to raise revenue. The new legislation has been sent back to the Illinois Senate to consider house amendments. The bill would establish five new casinos and put slot machines at state racetracks. The governor criticize the vote saying Illinois can't gamble its way out of its fiscal challenges. Quinn urged lawmakers to concentrate on what he called the state's most pressing issues, pension reform and medicaid restructuring.
