WASHINGTON--Months of dieting, running, and lifting weights paid off for several athletes Saturday.
Men and women across the state gathered at Five Points Recreation Center in Washington for the "Heart of America Natural Classic" Body Building show.
Categories included professional, amateur, and teen builders.
Contestants are judged on muscle mass, fat content and overall definition.
Body builder Denise Beckwith says she's always wanted to be strong.
Now she's living that dream each day, by working out with a personal trainer.
Whether she takes home the trophy or not... Beckwith hopes her passion inspires others to get in shape.
"No matter how tall, short, heavy, thin you are...you can put your mind to it," explained Beckwith. You can do it, And you know, I hope to inspire that in other people."
The "Heart of American Natural Classic" competition started in 1995 to promote anti-drug use among athletes.
