Forty-six graduates are receiving their doctorate degrees from Peoria's University of Illinois College of Medicine.
The ceremony took place inside Peoria Civic Center Ballroom.
It took students eight years of schooling to receive their doctor of medicine degree.
Graduate Alex Cantrell says it's been a long journey to this point.
He plans to go into urology, and looks forward to improving the quality of life for others.
"Spending the last couple of years in the hospital and actually seeing people that need help and that you can actually help them. Especially with urology, you have surgeries that really do a good job with that," said Cantrell.
Turns out more than 40 percent of Peoria area physicians studied at a University of Illinois College of Medicine Campus.
