PEORIA - Construction on Big Yellow's multI-million dollar visitors center is moving faster than expected.
Wednesday Caterpillar gave media the latest inside look of its new, $52 million facility in downtown Peoria.
There's still a lot of work to be done inside. But CAT says its ahead of schedule because of good weather, and the facility is sixty percent complete.
CAT says the facility will have two floors of interactive exhibits and one floor for public seating and recreation. But there will not be a restaurant.
CAT says the experience will be a lot to take in at once.
"If some comes into the center, they're probably going to spend a couple of hours. You can't just do a drive by, as i would call it, and spend fifteen minutes. And think you got anywhere close to what we've built into this," said CAT Corporate Public Affairs, Jim Baumgartner.
There will be an entry fee for walk-in visitors only. The grand opening is set for October 20th.
