Traffic Stoppages on I 74 in Peoria

  IDOT says motorists should be prepared for complete stoppages of traffic on I 74 near Sterling Avenue in Peoria this weekend. The temporary stoppages are necessary for crews to replace a light tower just west of Sterling Avenue and will take place simultaneously in both directions for up to an hour at two separate times Saturday, May 5th and or Sunday, May 6th. Message boards will be set up in advance of the location in both directions and will be updated when the work is about to begin, to alert motorists to seek alternate routes.
