BLOOMINGTON-
Dozens of people in Bloomington biked their way into Northpoint Elementary
School tonight all to prove a point to the city.
Many say
they want bike lanes along Main Street in Bloomington.
They say
their safety is an issue when they choose to bike around the town.
The
presentation is all part of Bloomington's feasibility study that came up at the
city's last council meeting.
It may take
years to accomplish, but citizens say they'd just feel safer if bike lanes were
put on the street.
Avid bicyclist Rachel Shibely said, "It would definitely improve safety
and accessibility in the corridor for cyclists. Currently it's a little bit dicey
for a cyclist to go on Main Street."
Bloomington
council heard citizen's views on the bike lanes but want to hear more.
They also said that they need
to discuss the issue further with i-dot before plans can be made for bike
lanes.
