PEORIA - It's never too early to start learning how to manage your money. And what better time to do so than during Money Smart Week?
That's what preschoolers at the Hult Center for Health Education in Peoria were up to Saturday.
The "Success by Six" event is put on by the Heart of Illinois United Way in conjunction with the PNC Foundation.
Kids got to create fake money and learn how to spend it wisely at different shops.
Organizer Maggie Heppner/ said, "We're encouraging parents to talk to their children about that because as part of a family, when there is change in their economic situation, it does affect the children. It's never too early to begin to talk to your children about your finances."
The kids also got to meet some big-time celebrities. Benjamin Franklin and Zoe from Sesame Street attended the event.
Money Smart Week is a week-long state program aimed at helping people become financially savvy through a series of lectures, workshops and speakers.
