EAST PEORIA- Bikers in central Illinois went on a ride Saturday that carried an extra meaning.
The Blue Ribbon Ride kicked off  Saturday at Go T's  bar in East Peoria.

It aims to bring awareness to child abuse and neglect. Bikers ditched their traditional black clothing, and sported blue shirts and blue bandanas. Blue is the designated color for child abuse.

Organizers hope the ride inspires others to join the cause.

"This is our first one for child abuse awareness. And we're going to have one every year after this. This is the first annual. So hopefully it will grow larger and larger as years go on," said orgainzer Sarah Grinslade.

Organizers hope to make more than $2,000 April is child abuse awareness month.
