Peoria Woman Charged with City's Latest Homicide

A Peoria woman, whose done jail time for battery and drugs, was formally charged with the city's latest homicide Thursday. 22 year old Chevon DIxon is facing one count of murder for the stabbing death of her boyfriend. Police say Dixon used a kitchen knife to repeatedly stab 50 year old Ricky Rutherford Senior to death. Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says an autopsy Thursday indicated Rutherford was stabbed 30 times in the 1100 block of Martin Luther King Junior Drive. According to court records, Dixon was sentenced to jail in 2006 for a misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct charge and was sentenced to jail in 2008 for a misdemeanor drug charge. Her bond was set at one million dollars.
