Despite cool and wet weather last week in most of Illinois, crop planting is way ahead of last year, according to a news release Monday from the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Corn planting reached 59 percent statewide, compared to just 10 percent at this time last year. However, the department reports frost caused some signs of damage. Soybean planting also progressed at 5 percent, compared to one percent last year.
