PEKIN-There may be some extra time to save Pekin's shuttered West Campus.
The demolition project manager Josh Hafliger says he's buying as much time as possible before demolishing the campus' main building. It's the only part of the school that remains standing.
He says for now crews will work on other projects. He says that could save a couple of weeks.
A group of people, including property owner Merle Huff, proposed a plan that asks the city to loan hundreds of thousands of dollars to save West Campus. That meeting took place two weeks ago.
Pekin's city manager Joe Wuellner says he has not heard from the group since then.
There's no item on next Monday's city council agenda for West Campus.
