PEORIA- A District 150 employee believes she's being demoted for applying for a job in another district.

Glen Oak principal Annette Coleman thought she was being demoted.

She also thought she would get a public hearing and a chance to fight for her job. But now everything is changing.

Coleman is one of four administrators the District 150 school board said it would demote. But at Monday's school board meeting, the district announced it would make Coleman an assistant principal at another school

The district says it doesn't consider such a change a demotion.

Coleman's lawyer, Nile Williamson, tells us no one told her about the change of plans before Monday's meeting. He says Coleman still wants a public hearing.

Williamson says Coleman believes the timing of all of this is suspicious because Coleman received great recommendations from District 150 until she applied for a job in another district.

Coleman applied for a job in Dunlap in January, but did not get it.

"We are suspicious of the fact that Mrs. Coleman was considered a very good principal up until January of 2012, when she applied to Dunlap for the position and fore after, a bad evaluation ensued. There does seem to be a relationship between those two events," said Williamson.

Williamson says he's not sure if his client will take action and expects Coleman to accept the new position.

District 150s attorney did not return our call. In the newsroom,
