PEORIA--A local fundraiser is allowing kids to get a jump start on their Christmas shopping and help a good cause too.

Peoria's Crittenton Centers has officially opened its Stocking Stuffer store at Northwoods Mall.

The center, which provides child care and support to children and families in the Peoria area, says the store is one of its largest fundraisers.

Kids 12 and under are invited to come in and shop for their families.

The center's special events coordinator Jennifer Simmons says the annual event is fun for kids and spreads a little Christmas cheer throughout the community.

"What a great way to create a memory for your family.  Knowing that your children are coming in, giving back to other children in the community that are in need and here they go home with these wonderful gifts," said Simmons.

This is the 28th year for the Stocking Stuffer Store.

A second location will open at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie in the former Borders store tomorrow.
