PEORIA - A former Peoria City Council member took to the mound Saturday.
George Jacob and his family got to throw out the first pitch at the Chiefs' game.
It was part of the 9th annual Legend at the Ballpark event benefiting the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
This year's legend is 2010 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee and former Cubs star Andre Dawson.
Jacob was severely injured during his time on the council.
IPMR was there when he needed help. "He has progressed so much and we still have a ways to go, but we've seen such an improvement. The fact that we have them here in Peoria, we're so blessed," says Jacob's wife Jeannine.
Proceeds from Saturday's event go to IPMR outreach efforts and programs.
