Kim Behrens is excited to be a part of the WMBD 31 Team. Kim graduated Summa Cum Laude from Illinois State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Mass Communication and Sociology. She also performed in theater productions on campus.
While at ISU, she received one of the University's top honors by being named a Robert G. Bone Scholar for outstanding academics, leadership and service.
A Bloomington native, Kim also lived in Orlando, Florida performing as a Cast Member at the Walt Disney World Resort.
She began her career with the Disney Company in 2006, as a Disney character entertainer, and later worked at EPCOT as a Disney tour guide and storyteller. She also assisted the Disney Communication Department by co-anchoring their Studio Newscasts.
Although Kim now lives in Illinois she is still able to take part in the Disney magic by performing as a seasonal movie host at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
While she misses Florida's palm trees and sun, she is thankful to be back in the Midwest and closer to family.
Her dad, Ken Behrens hosted his own show on WJBC Radio in Bloomington for over thirty years and she thanks him for giving her the "broadcasting gene."
Besides writing and telling stories, Kim is an avid runner and loves to act, sing, and do character voices.
She is active in the community performing in local theatre, and assisting her church with drama performances and skits.
Kim also volunteers each year at the Baby Fold's Festival of Trees assisting with their Gingerbread Village.
She thanks her mom, dad, and new husband Andy for
their love, support, and encouragement.
