Karissa is excited to be back in her home state. She was born and raised in Naperville, IL.
After studying for two years and storm chasing with the College of DuPage Meteorology program, she continued her education in Denver, CO. Karissa graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology from Metropolitan State College of Denver. While there, she interned for the morning news at KMGH-TV.
Her first job in broadcasting was as Weekend Meteorologist/Reporter at KCAU-TV in Sioux City, IA. There she learned the ins and outs of forecasting for the Midwest. After a year, she was promoted to Morning/Midday Meteorologist. Highlights of her time there include winning "Dancing with the Siouxland Stars" and her segment, "Cooking with Karissa."
In January of 2012, Karissa made the move to WMBD 31. She's up early every day to share the forecast on WMBD 31 News This Morning along with the News at Noon.
If she's not in the weather center, she's probably in the kitchen. Karissa enjoys cooking, baking, and trying out new restaurants. She is an avid Chicago sports fan and a self proclaimed "TV Junkie."
