WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA -- Morgan Murphy hit last but finished first.

Murphy blasted a 322-yard drive to capture the second Peoria Park District long drive championship Monday at Donovan Golf Course. As the top-seed, Morgan hit last and considered it an advantage.

"I came out and wanted to make some good swings," said Murphy, who qualified with a 342-yard drive Friday. "Going last I knew what I had to do. I changed my swing a little bit. I'm happy with what I did."

Al Harris (305 yards) finihsed second and Jamie Grubb (295). Defending champion Scott Phegley is pursuing a pro golf career in Arizona and could not compete.

Abby Ferlmann (224 yards) won the women's division. The senior win was Rick Kirkbride (268 yards) and the junior winner was Andrew Carvey (287 yards).
