CHICAGO - It's official - the Christmas season is in full swing in Illinois.

Monday, Governor Pat Quinn joined with school children to light the state's holiday tree. The lighting took place at the Thompson center in Chicago. This is the 20th year for the lighting of the annual "holiday tree" in Illinois.

At Monday’s event, the governor emphasized the importance of giving to those in need and encouraged Illinois residents to take action and support their servicemen and women.
