PEORIA - More travelers will hit the roads this Thanksgiving, rather than fly the friendly skies. AAA says more people plan to take the family car this year, an increase of more than two-percent from last year.

About 200,000 fewer people than last year will travel by air. AAA says air travel is down largely because airlines have cut back on flights by nearly seven-percent.

Illinois Police are stepping up patrols for the holiday.  As part of the "Stay Alive on the I's" campaign - police are paying close attention to speeders, and seat-belt violators, as well as drunk driving.
