Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @10:22am CST ![]() PEORIA -- Collections for Operation Santa are in full swing just outside the Shnucks in Peoria. One school has already filled a few boxes with lots of goodies for the soldiers overseas. Students at the Knoxville Center for Student Success had a surplus of hygiene items that were collected in spring. With nothing else to do with them besides let them collect dust, they decided to load them up and donate them to Operation Santa. Trayvon Griffin is a 10-year-old at the school and says, "Instead of using all the stuff that will help them, you can use soap to get them cleaned and washed up." The students even helped load up our WMBD truck with the boxes full of soaps and lotions. If you'd like to make a donation WMBD will have a table all day Thursday to collect donation as well as monetary donations. A full list of what soldiers need is on our website under Operation Santa. |
