ILLINOIS - The state of Illinois is naming and shaming delinquent tax payers. The Illinois Department of Revenue has created an online list of one hundred business and individuals who owe back taxes. Each taxpayer owes more than a thousand dollars to the state. Combined, the delinquent debts tally up to at least $6.3 million.

Notices were sent out to the taxpayers prior to the posting, giving each the chance to clear their debt. The department of revenue says nearly fifteen million dollars in payments were collected from delinquent taxpayers who wanted to avoid the public publishing of their names.
