WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. -- Notre Dame has not lost to a team in Illinois all season.

Now the Irish get the chance to prove they have the best team in the state.

Kevin Whalen, Vince Cicciarelli and Drew Olehy scored goals as Notre Dame blanked Lemont 3-0 in the class 2A super-sectionals Tuesday night. The win sends the 2008 state champs back to Naperville to defend their title.

Notre Dame (22-2-1) will play Freeport in the state semifinals Friday at 11 a.m. at North Central College. Freeport advanced with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Aurora Marmion Academy.
