Reported by: Kurt Pegler - WMBD/WYZZ-TV Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009 @04:52pm CST WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley's freshman from Morton is known by most people as Brooke.
But after a session in the weight room this summer, her teammates cell her Hercules. "We went back to the apartment that day (after the work out) and I went to get some food out of the refrigerator and the door fell off," laughed guard Brooke Bisping. "The door was in my hands." Now Bisping is hoping to strengthen Bradley's backcourt. In high school she found the basket with ease and was Morton's all-time leading scorer (2,147 points). At Bradley, the 5-7 guard knows things might be different. She scored ten points off the bench in the Braves' exhibition opener Sunday against Lewis University. "Now I'm with people as good or better than me," said Bisping, who is expected to play both guard positions this season. "Pushing me to be a better player. It's a lot of fun." Bisping is known for her toughness and scoring ability. But at BU she's making her name another way. "She bakes all sorts of sweets, pies and apple crisps, things like that," said head coach Paula Buscher. "But she doesn't eat any of it. So her roommates love her. And other athletes are going over there. The 18-year-old says she has always loved to bake. "My mom would let me do it when I was home," said Bisping. "I would bake up a storm, I'd bake pies, cookies, anything." She may be winning a popularity contest on campus now, but Bisping really wants to help Bradley win basketball games this winter. |
