Monday, Oct 26, 2009 @04:23pm CDT A Peoria man, charged with the city's fourth homicide of last year, had a change of heart just as his jury trial was beginning Monday. 22 year old Ernest Coffey is charged with the stabbing and strangulation death of Jessica Watson. Her body was found behind Sterling School by a maintenance worker in July of last year. Just as jury selection was wrapping up, Coffey changed his mind and decided he wanted a judge rather than a jury to decide his fate. So Coffey's bench trial begins Tuesday.
