Tuesday, Oct 20, 2009 @06:56pm CDT Attorneys for convicted terrorist Ali Al Marri say his sentence should be well below the advisory range. Their comments came in a 115 page memo filed Tuesday in Peoria Federal District Court just days before Al Marri is to be sentenced for conspiring with a terrorist organization. Prosecutors say Al Marri should be sentenced up to the maximum fifteen years in prison. In court, Al Marri admitted earlier this year to having contact with terrorist leaders while living in West Peoria at the time of the 9 11 attacks. Al Marri had been held as an enemy combatant in a South Carolina military brig until this year. Al Marri's sentencing hearing will be held October 28th and 29th.
