Reported by: WMBD/WYZZ TV News Staff Wednesday, Oct 7, 2009 @04:48am CDT Governor Pat Quinn will be at the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University Wednesday to call on lawmakers to restore funding to the Monetary Award Program, or MAP. MAP grants help 138,000 Illinois college students pay for school, but since the grants were cut from the state budget, those students will no longer have the financial aid into the spring semester. A possible cigarette tax has been proposed to fill the shortfall. Governor Quinn will be at Bradley University to rally for the grants on Thursday. |
