Infielder Jovan Rosa and pitcher Blake Parker will represent Peoria on the West Division All-Star roster. It will mark both players' first professional All-Star appearances. Rosa, selected by the Cubs in the 22nd round of the 2006 draft out of Lake City Community College (FL), is hitting .302 while playing both first and third base for Peoria in 2008. The 21-year old is also second in the MWL in doubles with 18 and has driven in 23 runs which is third on the team. Parker, a 16th round pick in the 2006 draft out of the University of Arkansas, began his career in the Cubs organization as a third basemen before making the switch to the mound. The right-hander has posted a 3-0 record with a 1.59 ERA and one save in 17 appearances. The 2008 Midwest League All-Star game is June 17th at Dow Diamond in Midland, Michigan the home of the Great Lakes Loons. |
