WMBD/WYZZ TV – PEORIA
– Some people in the community are speaking out about a series of Peoria
murders dating back seven years ago.
They say their loved ones have been ignored, and now they're taking
action. They want answers about 10
murdered women who all died between 2001 and 2004. Six of the cases are closed, but four remain
open as missing persons investigations, which has family members wondering why
it seems no one else is helping them bring their loved ones home. The victims' families gathered at Manual High
School for a ceremony to help get the word out about this mission. They say the past four years have been
especially hard because they think police have given up on the four cases. Family members say some of the victims were
drug addicts, but it's not certain if that had anything to do with their deaths
or disappearances. Either way, they just want to honor the victims with respect
and not how others might have seen them.
Local evangelist Willette Clayton says, "I feel like they have been
swept under the rug because of the nature of how they died and what our
so-called society labeled them as."
the ten women are:
Linda Neil, Laura Lollar, Barbara Williams, Wanda Jackson,
Shaconda Thomas, Shirley Carp-Trapp, Sabrina Payne, Tammy Walls, Brenda Irving,
& Fredricka Brown.
