NORMAL - Students at Illinois State are holding a bake sale this week to raise money for the Navarro's.  Last month, the family of eight lost everything when their home went up in flames.

Money raised will go towards buying everyday items like food and clothing.  The Navarro's have found temporary housing.

The bake sale was organized in connection with ISU's commitment to civic engagement.  Students say they're learning how to take action in the community.

Christine Doman saw the house fire break out.  She says, "I realized they had nothing, and there are all these students who have more than enough.  They can contribute easily."

You can find the bake sale in the lobby of Fell Hall.  It runs all week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Faculty members baked the various treats.
