Cirina Jones belted a three-run home run off Amber May in the first inning Thursday to lift Lansing (Mich.) Community College to a 3-0 win over Heartland in an opening round National Junior College Athletic Association game Thursday at Champion Fields. Lansing (46-3) starter Brianna Carpenter fired a 2-hitter and struck out eleven Hawks. Heartland (34-10) was playing in its first ever NJCAA Tournament game. |
