 WMBD/WYZZ
TV – PEORIA -- T he Bush
administration will reduce the amount of time troops spend overseas in combat. Right
now troops serving in the army are deployed for 15 months. That term will soon
be shortened to a year. The decision comes as the top US Commander in Iraq, General
David Petraeus, delivered his progress report to congress. Marines deployment
terms won't be affected because they already
deploy for less than a year. Officials at Peoria's Army Recruiting
station say they haven't gotten notice of shorter deployment times from their
chain of command.
