Jacob Long loves telling great stories. That’s what lured him to a career in television news. He thinks the best part about this business is impacting people's lives everyday through the power of journalism.

Jacob joined WMBD 31 and FOX 43 in May 2009 as the new Twin Cities Bureau Chief.  You might have seen him on-air before that, though.  Jacob started at the station as an intern before eventually working as a freelance reporter.

He graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in broadcast journalism.  While at I.S.U., he was heavily involved with the campus television station TV-10 News.  His reporting work has been recognized by both the Illinois News Broadcasters Association and the Illinois Broadcasters Association.

Jacob believes his most distinguished honor to date was getting to cover the Inauguration of President Barack Obama from Washington D.C.  He spent three days localizing the historic event with multiple Central Illinois angles.  Jacob describes the experience as "cold, crazy and incredible!"

Although Jacob grew up outside of St. Louis in southern Illinois, he is glad to now call Central Illinois home.  He also looks forward to getting involved in the community.  Jacob likes spending his time with family and friends, swimming as much as possible, eating out and rooting on the Cardinals!

Feel free to send him your story ideas at jacobl@wmbd.com.
