Experts say the new trend lets consumers keep tabs on their finances using their cell phone. Users can make money transfers and check balances wirelessly wherever they go. But is it safe? We talked to local experts who say multiple layers of security being implemented to protect your money. According to Heritage Bank Marketing Director Shaun Heuerman, “Essentially you have got your regular online banking name for login. You've got a separate pin which is different from your online banking password, and then you have one-time password technology that's built in with it.” Experts say mobile banking customers still need to keep their eyes open for scams - like text messages saying there's a problem with their account. Officials say mobile banking is "one way" communication, and banks will never contact customers by way of a text message if there is a problem with an account. |
