Bret spent part of his childhood in Peoria
and attended District 150 schools. Bret graduated Cum Laude from the University
of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (UWSP)
with a degree in Communications (Media and Technology). At UWSP Bret was very
involved with the student-run television station, working as a Reporter, News
Producer and later as General Manager of the station.
Bret experienced the opportunity of a lifetime when he was
chosen as the U.S.
representative for The 14th Foreign Correspondents’ Program in Finland
back in 2004. The month-long program, sponsored by Finland’s
Ministry for Foreign Affairs, was an all expenses paid Scholarship to study
Finnish Media and aspects of Finnish life. As part of the scholarship, Bret was
honored to meet and interview the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen.
Before joining the WMBD 31 Team in December of 2005,
Bret worked in production at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee
– the station where he previously interned.
Bret studied abroad in London
for a semester in college and loves to travel. Some of the places he has
visited include Turkey,
Germany, Jamaica,
Ireland, Estonia
and half-dozen others! In his spare time, Bret enjoys working out, watching TV
and talking with people. He is also a big Superman fan.
