WMBD/WYZZ TV – PEORIA -- President Bush’s visit is just one day away, and some Peorian's are scrambling to prepare for his arrival. Even before the president comes to town, Aaron Schock's Congressional Campaign is still taking reservations.

Volunteer, Paula Sullivan says, "The phones have been ringing off the hook, all four lines! As soon as you hang up, the phone rings again."

Hundreds of volunteers have been in and out of Weaver Farms getting tents set up, but the preparations don't end there.

Trooper Tony Halsey, from Illinois State Police says, "You always have to plan for 'what if,' unfortunately it’s going to put the community, businesses, and travelers in a bind."

State police are working closely with the Secret Service. Two hundred people are helping with travel routes and security. If you cross the president's motorcade, expect a 30 minute delay.

Trooper Halsey says, "When the president's motorcade goes by all traffic in the area will stop."

One thing that's not stopping? All the food preparations! Alwan and Son's is doing the catering. So what does a presidential meal look like?

Pat Alwan says, "We are making beef tenderloin kabobs with fresh herbs and spices, it's going to be phenomenal."

They won't give numbers but say they've made vats of food that they've been preparing around the clock.

Alwan says, "Pallets of peppers, pallets of onions, pallets of all the spices, herbs, and meats."

Most cities get four to six weeks to prepare for a presidential visit. Peoria had two weeks, meaning everyone has had to work a little bit faster. If you want to avoid traffic back ups from the president coming to town, you may want to stay off the streets near the airport around lunch time.
