WMBD/WYZZ-TV - ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues signed former Rivermen forwards Yan Stastny and Jay McClement, team President John Davidson announced Monday.

Stastny, 25, made his Blues debut this past season on February 16 at Nashville recording a goal and skated in 12 games with St. Louis, registering two points (one goal, one assist).

“Yan can play many roles within our organization,” said Davidson. “He has skill, is great at faceoffs and can kill penalties.”

Stastny played in 43 games for the Rivermen last season, collecting 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) along with 69 penalty minutes.

McClement, 25, recorded a career high nine goals last season with the Blues while tallying 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 81 games. McClement played for the Rivermen in the 2006-07 season.

“We are excited to have Jay in our core group of young players,” said Davidson. “He will provide some stability and experience on the penalty kill and we are expecting his offensive numbers to improve with the more ice-time he gets.”
