WMBD/WYZZ TV – PEORIA -- The pope is coming to the United States this
week. His predecessor, Pope John Paul ll, seemed to really resonate with the
public. We wondered how much you know about the new pope. This week the pope begins his six day journey from Washington to New York,
meeting with the president and everyone in between. Popes are noted for their
influence over politics, and their contribution to faith and diplomacy. For a
position that holds so much power... How much do you really know about the
current pope? Let's start with an easy one... What's the current popes name? Don’t know? Pope Benedict XVI. Next question... Which country is he from? Germany is the answer. Many of the people we met in the field didn’t know the answer to these
questions. Take a look at the video clip and see how people did. This game may
prove the current pope needs to better connect with the American public, and
his trip this week may be the perfect opportunity. This is only the second time in history a pope has been to the white house and President Bush is pulling out all the stops. It will be the first time bush drives out to meet a visiting leader at Andrews Air Force Base. And a crowd of up to 12,000 will attend the pope's official arrival ceremony Wednesday morning. |
