WMBD/WYZZ
TV – WASHINGTON -- Washington City Administrators say the
city is growing fast, and that means some of their facilities need help. The
goal is to expand their waste water treatment plant. The plant is more than 50
years old, and could cost about $15,000,000 to renovate. The city needs help
funding the project, and the EPA is offering a low interest loan. It will be up
to new residents to repay the
loan. A one time, $4,300 fee is
rolled into home construction costs. Bob Morris, Washington
City Administrator says, “As the community
continues to grow, the volume of waste water increases. Cities have to be able
to adequately treat that water and maintain compliance with these standards.” If all goes well, construction on the waste water treatment plant could start next year. |
