     Advanced Rehab and Sports Medicine is a professional therapy services corporation established to provide outstanding physical, occupational and speech therapy services. The company was founded in 1997 by Christopher Byers, PT; and Michael Salaway, MSPT as a physical therapy provider to area nursing homes and home health agencies. Since then, the company has developed centers throughout central Illinois offering all levels of physical rehabilitation on an outpatient level as well as providing services to area home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities and various other healthcare providers, allowing us to be involved in the entire continuum of care as it relates to physical rehab services.

  • Do you need physical therapy? 
    If you see these symptoms, THINK PHYSICAL THERAPY!

     Headaches
        Could be a neck dysfunction – postural training usually decreases frequency.

    Neck Pain/Limited ROM
        May be a muscle or disc problem– we can distinguish and advise.




      Radiating symptoms into the arm or scapular area 
        Could be a neck dysfunction – exercises and posture training can improve it.
        Could be a rotator cuff problem – we can determine orthopedic intervention.
        Could be bursitis – ultrasound and/or iontophoresis help significantly.
    Radiating symptoms from the elbow
        Could be tennis elbow – stretches and modalities will help.





     Radiating symptoms up the arm from the hand

        Could be carpal tunnel symptoms – stretches and modalities will help.


    Numbness & tingling/Pain in the hand
        Could be neck dysfunction – may resolve with posture training.
        Could be carpal tunnel syndrome – stretches and modalities will help.




     Back pain/Limited ROM
        May be a muscle or disc problem – we can distinguish and advise.

    Radiating pain down lower extremity
    Could be SI joint dysfunction, especially if groin pain – manual techniques  can help.
    Could be a disc problem – exercises and positioning will help.
    Could be sciatica – exercises and positioning will help.




     Hip pain
        Could be referred from the low back – exercises can centralize pain.
        Could be referred from the SI joint – manual therapy can resolve.
        Could be bursitis – can be resolved with modalities.

    Pain/edema at the knee, chronic or acute
        Could be a low back problem or an orthopedic DX – we can assess and advise.
        Acute knee pain/edema can be decreased with modalities.



     Ankle swelling/pain, chronic or acute
        Electric stimulation and/or ultrasound can reduce significantly.
        Balance and proprioception exercises can return patients to function faster.





     Heel pain/Arch pain

        Spurs or neuromas are sometimes improved with modalities and stretches.
        Arch pain may be a sign of tight Achilles – improved with stretches.
